ABOUT US
As a family, we would travel down to Florida for March Break every year. When the kids were younger the 2 day car ride could often get to them and they would need to let some energy out. We would stop at the Daytona Beach Flea Market to stock up on produce and let the kids run around to burn off some energy before finishing off the last leg of the trip. There was a kettle corn stand that was offering free samples to passersby. Year after year, we refused to try this product since it was "just popcorn". One year, the kids were a bit older and acting up after being cooped up in the car for days. We finally decided to give it a try to keep the kids busy for a few moments. The moment the first kernel was popped into our mouths, I knew I was hooked.
We loaded up the kids’ arms with popcorn and made our way back to the other family we were travelling with, excited about our new find! After that, it was our new routine to stop in Daytona to stock up on produce and kettle corn for the week and then on our way home we would stop and fill the car to the roof with kettle corn to bring back with us. From there, this became a vital stop on the trip and everyone looked forward to getting this beloved snack.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, our family was no longer able to partake in this yearly adventure to Florida and were no longer able to purchase our favorite snack. After much research, I came to the conclusion that kettle corn could not be found in Quebec. It dawned on me that I could remake the kettle corn and we could have that little piece of sunshine here in Quebec, how hard could it be after all? It was just popcorn!
I started doing my research on how exactly kettle corn was made and what the ingredients were. It took a few tries to get the recipe right, but no one was complaining about all the taste testing! Eventually, everywhere we went, we were bringing kettle corn with us and people kept asking us for it. That is when the light bulb lit, and I decided to pursue this adventure. I started building my machine and gathering information and away we went!
